Scary Movie 6 Hits Paramount+: Core Four Reunion Plus an Extended Cut

Posted on September 7, 2026 by xaldris-sl1

Thirteen years after Scary Movie 5 and twenty-six years after the original gag fest, the franchise’s sixth chapter is finally couch-ready. Paramount+ began streaming the latest Scary Movie (widely tagged as Scary Movie 6) on September 3, barely three months after its theatrical run cleared more than $230 million worldwide.

The reunion is the headline. Marlon and Shawn Wayans return as Shorty and Ray Wilkins, while Anna Faris and Regina Hall reprise Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks. The Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs, and the film’s satire target list reads like a horror calendar from the last decade: reboots, remakes, “requels,” legacy sequels, elevated horror, origin stories, and every “final chapter” that refuses to stay final.

Two cuts, more jokes

Subscribers get more than the 95-minute theatrical version. Paramount+ also dropped an extended cut that adds roughly nine to thirteen minutes of footage — extra scenes, leftover punchlines, and an alternate ending for viewers who want the spoof to keep going after the credits would normally roll.

That dual release is smart catalog strategy. The theatrical cut preserves the theatrical pacing that helped the film open strong (around $55 million domestically in its first weekend, with a production cost reported near $30 million before P&A). The longer cut rewards superfans and binge nights, while the streamer’s full Scary Movie library sits ready for anyone who wants a franchise marathon.

Why the spoof still works

Horror has spent years oscillating between prestige dread and IP recycling. A loud parody that refuses to whisper is its own kind of event — especially when it brings back the faces that defined the brand. With Kenan Thompson, Kim Wayans, Damon Wayans Jr., Heidi Gardner, and a deep bench of newcomers in the mix, the new entry feels less like a dusty reboot and more like a family reunion that also lampoons every trailer you’ve skipped.

If you missed it in theaters, September’s homework is simple: queue Paramount+, pick a cut, and let the Core Four slash through the tropes one more time.
