Netflix’s Dan Brown Series The Secret of Secrets Starts Production in Prague

Posted on September 5, 2026 by xaldris-sl1

Symbology is back on the clock. Netflix has officially started production in Prague on its straight-to-series adaptation of Dan Brown’s novel The Secret of Secrets, releasing a first-look image as cameras roll on a cast led by Morgan Spector as Robert Langdon and Rebecca Hall as Katherine Solomon.

The series — still untitled on-screen for now — follows Langdon racing against ancient forces and a ticking clock to rescue a missing scientist and her manuscript, a discovery framed as capable of rewriting how humanity understands the mind. That mix of futuristic science, mystical lore, and globe-trotting suspense is the Brown formula audiences know from the feature films, now rebuilt for episodic television.

A stacked ensemble around Langdon

Beyond Spector and Hall, series regulars include Cherry Jones as Heide Nagel, Corey Stoll as Everett Finch, Rob Delaney as Jonas Faukman, and Abbey Lee as Sasha Vesna. Recurring and guest players announced around the production start include Mamadou Athie as Michael Harris, Ben Levi Ross as Alex Conan, Anamaria Marinca as Dr. Gessner, Richard Sammel as Karl Muller, and Elena Saurel as Susan Housemore — a European-heavy supporting cast that matches the Prague shoot and the story’s international intrigue.

Carlton Cuse and Dan Brown are co-creators and executive producers, with Cuse writing and showrunning. Emma Forman of Cuse’s Genre-Arts and Zoe Robyn also executive produce. Netflix ordered the project straight to series in May 2025, betting that Langdon’s puzzle-box energy still travels well beyond theatrical thrillers.

Why this matters for fall streaming chatter

Prestige thrillers are crowded shelf space in 2026, but Brown’s brand remains a rare shortcut to recognition. Spector’s casting as Langdon is a deliberate shift from the Tom Hanks film era: colder academic steel, less movie-star warmth. Pairing him with Hall’s Katherine Solomon points the adaptation toward the novel’s mind-science hook rather than pure relic-chasing tourism.

Prague production also signals scale. Location work, cathedral silhouettes, and lab corridors are cheaper to promise than to deliver; starting cameras now puts the series on a real calendar instead of a pitch deck. For viewers who bounced off recent streaming mysteries, the first-look image is the soft sell: Langdon and Solomon framed for a mystery that wants both conspiracy forums and Sunday-night sofa loyalty.

No premiere date has been locked publicly as of early September 2026. For now, the news is simpler and louder: Langdon is filming again, the manuscript is missing, and Netflix wants your next binge to feel like a coded scavenger hunt.
