Lupin Part 4 Arrives This Friday: Assane Diop Breaks Out to Catch a Copycat Thief

Keep an eye on your jewelry boxes. Lupin, the French heist series that turned Maurice Leblanc’s classic gentleman thief into a worldwide streaming habit, returns to Netflix on Friday, October 23, 2026, with all eight episodes of Part 4 dropping at once. It is the longest wait fans have endured between chapters, and the new season wastes no time flipping the formula on its head.

A thief framed by his own legend

When we last saw Assane Diop, played once again by Omar Sy, he was behind bars. Part 4 jumps forward four years and finds him surprisingly calm about it. Lupin, as far as he is concerned, is finished. He wants to serve out his sentence and keep a promise to his son: to travel together to meet their family in Senegal.

Then a mysterious announcement appears, signed simply “Lupin.” Several Paris museums will be robbed at the same time. Security is tightened, yet every heist goes off exactly as promised. Worse, the evidence points straight at Assane, including camera footage that seems to show him inside a museum during a robbery in which Captain Belkacem is badly hurt. To clear his name and unmask the impostor, he has to do the one thing he swore he was done with: escape, put on the disguise and become Lupin again.

It is a clever twist for a show built on the idea that Assane is always three moves ahead. This time, somebody else is playing his game, and doing it well.

Familiar faces and new players

Ludivine Sagnier returns as Claire, Antoine Gouy as loyal friend Benjamin, Soufiane Guerrab as detective Guédira and Shirine Boutella as Belkacem. Newcomers Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard join the ensemble. Behind the camera, Sy now also serves as showrunner alongside Louis Leterrier, with production from Gaumont and Carrousel Studios. In a statement, Sy called the series “an extraordinary plaything” that still brings him joy every time he returns.

Worth the binge?

If the trailer is any guide, expect the series’ trademark mix of glossy Paris locations, elaborate disguises and emotional family stakes. Eight episodes is a perfect weekend binge, and the copycat premise gives returning viewers a fresh puzzle rather than another rerun of the revenge plot. Newcomers can still jump in, but a quick refresher on Part 3 will make the opening episodes far more satisfying.

Friday night plans, sorted.
