American Horror Story: 13 Drops a Three-Episode Premiere Tonight on FX and Hulu

Posted on September 24, 2026September 24, 2026 by xaldris-sl1

Thursday nights just got a lot denser. American Horror Story: 13 premieres tonight, September 24, 2026, on FX at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, and the same three half-hour episodes land on Hulu at the same time — including for viewers who get Hulu through a Disney+ bundle. It is not a soft launch. Episodes one through three — titled “13,” “1:13 AM,” and “Rauhnacht” — roll out back to back, which is Murphy’s way of saying the season does not intend to ease anyone in.

The installment clocks in at a tidy thirteen episodes, then sprints toward an October 29 finale timed for the week of Halloween. After tonight’s triple drop, another three episodes arrive October 1. From there the cadence shifts to two episodes a week until the closer stands alone. For a franchise that has spent more than a decade changing themes, casts, and timelines, the half-hour format is the real structural surprise: shorter chapters, denser dread, less room for filler.

Marketing has leaned hard on reunion energy. Promos point to characters and performers who have cycled through earlier chapters, including the long-promised return of Jessica Lange’s gravitational force in the anthology’s orbit. The season’s early framing also nods back toward Miss Robichaux’s Academy territory — witches, rivalries, and the sort of Southern Gothic atmosphere that made early AHS feel like a prestige haunted house rather than a jump-scare machine.

That history matters because American Horror Story has always been a barometer of what FX and Hulu think audiences will binge in the fall. When seasons hit, they become water-cooler folklore by Monday. When they miss, they still dominate social feeds for a weekend. A three-episode premiere is designed to create both outcomes at once: enough story to argue about, and enough cliffhangers to force a second helping before the next Thursday.

Practical viewing notes are simple. Watch live on FX if you want the communal chaos of first reactions, or open Hulu the moment the block airs if you prefer to pause, rewind, and doomscroll the comments in peace. Prior seasons remain stacked on Hulu for anyone who wants a crash course in coven politics before diving into tonight’s batch.

Whether 13 becomes a late-career peak or another stylish detour will be clear soon enough. For now, the invitation is blunt: three episodes, one night, and a season that ends just as porch lights start staying on for trick-or-treaters. Horror season has officially punched in.
